Resistance of Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in Shandong Province from 2019 to 2022
Objective To investigate the resistance status and development of Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in Shandong Province from 2019 to 2022,and to provide theoretical basis for the rational selection and use of insecticides, scientific prevention and control of Ae.albopictus and dengue fever. Methods Insecticide resistance was monitored by WHO recommended bioassays, including larvae-impregnation method and the WHO contact-tube method for adults.Excel 2010 and SPSS 20.0 was used to calculate and analyze the bioassay data of Ae.albopictus resistance to insecticides from 9 sample sites in Shandong Province from 2019 to 2022,and the resistance level was statistically analyzed. Results The results showed that Ae.albopictus larvae from 3(3/5),4(4/6),4(4/5)sites showed medium or high resistance to permethrin, deltamethrin and cypermethrin,respectively.Ae.albopictus larvae from 6(6/7)sites showed medium or low resistance to propoxur.Ae.albopictus larvae from2(2/7)sites showed medium resistance to temephos, while the other sites showed low resistance.Ae.albopictus adults developed resistance to deltamethrin and cyhalothrin at all surveillance sites, and showed resistance to permethrin, cypermethrin and alpha-Cypermethrin at 5(5/6),7(7/8),3(3/4)of the surveillance sites,respectively.Ae.albopictus adults developed resistance to malathion and propoxur at 1(1/7)and 1(1/8)of the sites. Conclusion The larvae and adults of Ae.albopictus in Shandong have developed varying degrees of resistance to the commonly used insecticides, and the resistance to pyrethroids was significantly higher than that to urethane and organophosphorus. It is recommended that surveillance sites should adjust the insecticides use planning and strengthen insecticide resistance surveillance to delay the development of resistance and scientific prevention and control of Ae.albopictus.
