Experimental study on efficacy of two insecticides against ticks in field
Objective To compare and test the efficacy of lambda-cyhalothrin microcapsule suspension and alpha-cypermethrin suspension concentrate against ticks in the field, and to explore a new method of efficient, stable and long-term effective tick control,so as to rapidly reduce the tick density during the outbreak of tick-borne diseases and emergency situations. Methods The natural field environment with high tick infestation rate was selected, and 3 areas with a scale of 100 m2 were designated,2 were used as test areas and 1 was used as control areas. The tick density in the 3 designated areas was investigated with the flag method before killing. After the background investigation, insecticide was applied to the test area with a common sprayer to carry out tick killing effect test. Results The density of free ticks in the test area was 0 after 1 day of drug spraying, and ticks were detected in the test area sprayed with cypermethrin after 14 days, while no free ticks were detected in the test area sprayed with alpha-cypermethrin after 42 days. The results showed that lambda-cyhalothrin had a longer duration of killing ticks. Conclusion Hygienic insecticides can rapidly reduce the density of free ticks, and lambda-cyhalothrin has better tick killing effect and longer killing duration.
