Objective To analyze the situation of vector invasion in the venues and surrounding areas of the Pidu competition area of the 31st World University Games in Chengdu(the Universiade),summarize the experience of vector control,so as to provide reference for support activity of future major sporting events. Methods According to the requirements of the Work Plan for Vector Control at the 31st Summer Universiade, vector density monitoring was conducted from April to August 2023 at the PD,XH,and XJ venues in the Pidu competition area of the Universiade,as well as within a 500 m radius, mosquitoes were monitored twice a month(once in the first and second half of the month),while rodents, flies and cockroaches were monitored once a month. Results From April to August, the mosquito density and fly density in PD,XH,and XJ venues and surrounding areas showed different fluctuation trends. In rodent density monitoring, the path index around the XJ venue was the highest; In the monitoring of cockroach density, the cockroach trapping rate, density index, and positive rate of cockroach traces around the XJ venue were the highest. In August, the density of mosquitoes, flies, rodents, and cockroaches in various venues and surrounding areas decreased to a relatively low level. Conclusion The venues and surrounding areas of the Pidu competition area of the Universiade have been subjected to varying degrees of vector damage, and vector control measures should be formulated according to the strategy of"one venue, one policy",which is helpful for achieving the required level of vector density control,so as to provide reference significance for support activity of major sporting events in the future.
