Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of an imported dengue fever case in Nantong City,carry out emergency monitoring and disposal of vector Aedes,and evaluate the response outcome of the epidemic situation.Methods The epidemiological investigation was performed for the case.Quantitative real-time PCR was used to detected the dengue virus nucleic acid of the serum samples of the case,co-exposed persons and close contacts.A search for dengue fever cases was conducted in communities and hospitals.The density of vector Aedes was monitored by Breteau index(BI)and double bed net trap.Results A case of dengue fever imported from Ghana was confirmed.The BI and bed net trap index in the core area and warning area of the epidemic spot were less than 5 and 0 mosquito per net per hour,respectively.Conclusion The patient was promptly isolated and treated.The density of vector Aedes were below the safety thresholds.The epidemic had been controlled effectively and no local transmission occurred.
