A retrospective analysis was carried out on the epidemiological investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of a case of imported malaria in a foreign military visitor. The patient developed a fever one week after entering Pakistan, and was diagnosed with imported oval malaria through blood film microscopy and real time PCR.The epidemiological investigation classified it as a case of malaria recurrence, and the patient was successfully treated with standardized antimalarial therapy. It is suggested to conduct epidemiological investigations and health monitoring on visitors from high malaria endemic areas, and increase vigilance against various imported infectious diseases.
