Resistance surveillance of dengue vector Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in Changning District,Shanghai
Objective To investigate the resistance status of Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in Changning District,Shanghai. Methods In June 2023,adult Ae.albopictus were collected from 5 sites in Changning District and their next generation was bred in the laboratory. The non-engorged female adults 3-5 days post eclosion and late third instars and early fourth instars were collected for insecticide resistance testing with the immersion test for larvae and WHO tube test for adults. Results The adults Ae.albopictus were resistance to 0.2%beta-cypermethrin and 0.08%fenitrothion,with 24-hour mortality rates were 54.40%and 67.20%,respectively;sensitive to 0.05%propoxur and 0.07%lambda-cyhalothrin,with 24-hour mortality rates were 99.22%and 98.20%,respectively.The larvae showed moderate resistance to pyriproxyfen and temephos. The IE50 of pyriproxyfen was 0.000 394 mg/L,and the LC50 of temephos was 0.016 33 mg/L.They were sensitive to fenthion, and its LC50 was 0.003 08 mg/L.Conclusion Ae.albopictus in Changning District has developed varying degrees of resistance to fenitrothion,beta-cypermethrin,pyriproxyfen and temephos, but is sensitive to propoxur,lambda-cyhalothrin and fenthion. The use of insecticides which resistance has occurred should be reduced.Sensitive insecticides such as propoxur,lambda-cyhalothrin and fenthion can be selected for mosquito control in Changning District. At the same time, the monitoring of mosquito resistance should be strengthened, and insecticides should be used scientifically and rationally based on the results of resistance,so as to prevent and delay the occurrence and development of insecticide resistance.
