The Impacts of Government Training on Farmers'Willingness and Behavior of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Flood Risk Areas
In face of the threat of flood,effective disaster prevention and reduction behavior can guarantee the life and property safety of farmers,and government training is an essential measure to promote farmers'initiative to take disaster prevention and mitigation.Based on survey data from 540 farmers in flood risk areas in Sichuan Prov-ince of China,the effects of government training and training breadth on farmers'behavior of disaster prevention and mitigation and the mediating effects of farmers'willingness to disaster prevention and mitigation are empirically tested.The results show that with the increase of farmers'participation in government training and the breadth of training,farmers are more likely to take disaster prevention and reduction behaviors.With each increase of one unit in government training and training breadth,the probability of farmers taking disaster prevention and reduction be-haviors increases by 10.68%and 4.19%respectively.Farmers'livelihood skills and disaster experience have a sig-nificant positive impact on their disaster prevention and reduction behavior.Farmers'willingness to disaster preven-tion and mitigation played a mediating role in the government training and training breadth affecting farmers'disas-ter prevention and reduction behavior,accounting for 15.17%and 12.29%,respectively.
