Research on Natural Gas Leakage,Diffusion and Explosion in Gas Chambers of Urban Utility Tunnels
This review explores issues related to natural gas leakage, diffusion and explosion within gas com-partments in urban utility tunnels.Research on gas leaks in gas compartments must consider the location, size, pipeline operating pressure(pressure variations within the pipeline),ventilation, and the alarm response time of gas detectors. When a significant gas leak occurs in the compartment, increasing ventilation alone is insufficient to prevent gas accumulation. It is necessary to simultaneously activate compartmental fire doors for containment and isolation.Summarizing existing research findings on confined space gas explosions indicates that simulation studies of gas leaks and explosions in gas compartments should thoroughly consider the tunnel′s length-to-diameter ratio and the influence of objects inside the compartment.Additionally, the explosion shock wave intensity is high, necessitating the implementation of appropriate explosion-proof measures.Valuable insights for further re-search on the safety of natural gas pipeline transportation in urban utility tunnels are provided.
