Fang Hui rethought the development of poetry in the context of the late Song period, which was characterized by a weak poetic style and a weak atmosphere. In his Yan Baoxie Poetry criticism of Wenxuan,Fang Hui took the poems of the Yuanjia Three Great Poets and the poets of the Yongming period as the subject of his commentary. He held up the banner of"Jianan flavor",advocating natural and elegant language, delicate and sincere emotions, and reasonable organization of the scene and vein, which reflected the"natural and mixed"concept of Jian'an poetics. He advocated the natural and elegant language,del-icate and sincere emotions, and rational organization of scenes and veins, reflecting the poetical view of Jian'an as"natural and mixed".At the same time,he did not forget to follow the law of Jiangxi Poetics in his critical practice. He not only pays atten-tion to the use of words and matters in poetry, but also emphasizes the beginning and end of the poem. The interaction between Jian'an poetics and Jiangxi poetics is realized in Fang Hui's Yan Baoxie Poetry criticism of Wenxuan. It is both Fang Hui's at-tempt to establish a new standard of poetry and his ideal path of poetic development.
