Cultivating students'independent reading skills is the central task of reading teaching.At present,in view of the reading characteristics of primary school students in the lower grades,there are still several major issues in cultivating their inde-pendent reading skills.To address these problems,firstly,a positive reading environment and reading atmosphere should be cre-ated for them.Secondly,it is necessary to stimulate junior students'interest in independent reading,choose reading materials that are suitable for primary school junior students,make good use of encouragement to arouse students'enthusiasm for reading.Carry out various activities to cultivate their independent reading habits.Finally,in cultivating students'independent reading a-bility,teachers should improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching,teach students reading methods,pay attention to individ-ual differences and provide targeted guidance.They should guide students to read the whole book,introduce reading into students'daily lives,update teaching concepts and incorporate information technology.
