OBJECTIVE To study Candida parapsilosis infection condition in Jiaxing area, so as to guide the empirical use of antibiotics and the control of nosocomial infections. METHODS The rate of C. parapsilosis infection and the drug susceptibility during the past 6 years were retrospectively summarized) the drug susceptibility testing was performed by using ATB FUNGUS 3 reagent. RESULTS A total of 214 strains of C. parapsilosis were isolated during recent 6 years, from the start of the isolation , it kept an increasing tendency ever since 2007 , the isolation rate in 2010 was 0. 60% ; the age of the patients with infections varied from 51 days to 89 years old, and the male exceeded the females the infections primarily occurred in ICU (32. 07%), followed by hand and foot surgery department (16. 30%), department of pediatrics (9. 78%), department of cerebral surgery (8.70%), and burn departmenl (8. 15%); ihese isolates were mainly isolated from urine, secretion, catheter , and blood; totally 82 strains were available for antifungal susceptibility testing which indicated that all strains were susceptible to flucytosine, amphotericin B, fluconazole, and itraconazole except that one strain was resistant to voricanozole. CONCLUSION To monitor the pathogens in hospital in a time manner is very important [or the empirical medication and the control of nosocamial infections.
