Molecular epidemiological and genetic characteristics of 121 clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus
OBJECTIVE To study the molecular and genetic characteristics of clinical isolates of Staphylococcus au-reus.METHODS A total of 121 non-replicated S.aureus strains clinically detected in the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China and the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine from 2018-2019 were collected, their δ-hemolysis,mec A gene,Agr type and Spa type were detected, and mec A gene-positive strains were subjected to SCCmec typing.RESULTS Among 121 S.aureus strains,67(55.37%)were methicillin-resistant(MRSA)and 54(44.63%)were methicillin-susceptible(MSSA).The MRSA strains mainly carried type Ⅲ SCCmec(18,26.86%)and type Ⅳ SCCmec elements(24,35.82%).The Agr sys-tem were mainly type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ.In addition, there were 54 Spa types among the 121 clinical strains, the most common being t437(15,12.40%)and t034(9,7.44%).Of the 12 δ-hemolytic negative S.aureus strains,11(91.67%)were MRSA strains.δ-hemolytic negative S.aureus carried predominantly type Ⅱ(50.00%)Agr system and type Ⅱ(58.33%)SCCmec elements. There are 8 types of Spa in δ-hemolytic negative S.aureus, and the most common one was t18363(41.67%).CONCLUSION The study described information on the molecular and genetic characteristics of hospital isolates of S.aureus, which could help to track the emergence and spread of epidemic S.aureus strains in hospitals and provide strategies for clinical infection control.
