Pathogenic bacteria of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection and their risk factors in hemodialysis patients
OBJECTIVE To investigate the pathogenic bacteria of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infec-tions(CLABSI)and their risk factors in hemodialysis patients.METHODS Totally 327 hemodialysis patients ad-mitted to the Ninth People's Hospital of Suzhou from Jan.2019 to Dec.2022 were retrospectively selected as the research subjects, and were divided into the infected group(26 cases)and the non-infected group(301 cases)ac-cording to whether central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection occurred. The pathogenic bacteria of cen-tral venous catheter-related bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients were analyzed, the clinical data of the two groups of patients were analyzed, and the risk factors of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients were summarized.RESULTS The incidence of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients was 7.95%(26/327).Gram-positive bacteria predominated in the distribution of pathogenic organisms.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age and catheter retention time were the risk factors for central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients(OR=1.970,2.298,P<0.05).CONCLUSION The incidence of central venous catheter-associated bloodstream infection in he-modialysis patients was high, and gram-positive bacteria were the main pathogens.Central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients was closely related to patient age and catheter indwelling time. Therefore, targeted treatment and preventive measures could be taken to reduce the risk of central venous cathe-ter-related bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients.
