Risk factors for pneumonia in children with Epstein-Barr virus-associated infectious mononucleosis
OBJECTIVE To investigate the risk factors for pneumonia complication in children with human herpes-virus(EB)virus-induced infectious mononucleosis(IM).METHODS The clinical data of 187 children with Ep-stein-Barr viruse-induced IM admitted to Suzhou Hi-Tech District People's Hospital from Mar.2020 to Mar.2023 were retrospectively analyzed, and the children were divided into 55 cases of pneumonia group and 132 cases of non-pneumonia group according to whether they were complicated with pneumonia. The clinical data of the two groups were compared, and the risk factors for pneumonia in children with IM caused by Epstein-Barr virus.RESULTS The levels of C-reactive protein(CRP),procalcitonin(PCT)and neutrophil/lymphocyte(NLR)in pneumonia group were higher than those in non-pneumonia group(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression a-nalysis showed that older age, hepatosplenomegaly and long duration of fever were risk factors for pneumonia complication in children with Epstein-Barr viruse-induced IM(OR=2.109,2.079,1.972,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Serum CRP,PCT and NLR were highly expressed in children with Epstein-Barr virus IM compli-cated with pneumonia.Clinical prevention and intervention measures could be given according to risk factors to re-duce the risk of pneumonia in children with Epstein-Barr viruse-induced IM.
