Cliniacl and epidemiological characteristics of nosocomial infection caused by invasire Candida from a hospital in 2022
OBJECTIVE To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of nosocomial infection caused by Candi-da so as to provide basis for control of the Candida nosocomial infection.METHODS Totally 7 667 strains of Can-dida were isolated from Jiangsu Province People's Hospital from Jan 1,2022 to Dec 31,2022,the clinical data were also collected. The distribution of the Candida isolates and distribution of the nosocomial infection cases were observed.RESULTS The overall isolation rate of Candida albicans was the highest(58.49%),followed by Candida par a p silosis(22.58%),Candida tropicalis(15.52%),Candida glabrata(2.13%)and Candida krusei(1.02%).Among the strains isolated from the specimens,4 550(59.35%)were isolated from sputum specimens,1 183(15.43%)were isolated from urine specimens, and 682(8.90%)were isolated from stool specimens.Total-ly 2 879(37.55%)strains were isolated from internal medicine department,2 366(30.86%)strains were isolated from surgery departments,2 232(29.11%)strains were isolated from intensive care unit(ICU),and 190(2.48%)strains were isolated from emergency department.A total of 688 patients had invasive Candida nosoco-mial infection, accounting for 23.93%among the patients with nosocomial infection in the whole year;the patients with invasive Candida infection who were more than 60 years old accounted for 66.72%(459/688).Hypertension and cardiovascular disease were the major underlying diseases.ICU was dominant among the departments with in-fections,accounting for 41.13%(283/688),the major length of hospital stay was 15-30 days(49.42%,340/688).The proportion of patients who were treated with antibiotics for no less than 3 weeks accounted for 65.12%(448/688).CONCLUSION The patients who have invasive Candida nosocomial infection are increasingly high. The invasive Candida nosocomial infection is associated with the age, underlying disease, department, length of hospital stay and antibiotic treatment duration. It is necessary for the hospital to strengthen the preven-tion and control.
