Effect of rhEGF combined with bFGF on treatment of infectious chronic refractory wounds
OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical effect of recombinant human epidermal growth factor(rhEGF)com-bined with basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)on treatment of the infectious chronic refractory wounds.METHODS A total of 120 patients with chronic refractory wounds who were treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from Jul 2021 to Mar 2023 were recruited as the research subjects and randomly di-vided into the study group with 60 cases and the control group with 60 cases. The study group was treated with rhEGF combined with bFGF,while the control group was only treated with rhEGF.The inflammatory indexes, pain score, bacterial culture of wound secretions, growing status of wound granulation tissues and wound healing time were observed and compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.RESULTS There was no significant difference in the baseline data between the two groups of patients. There were no significant differences in the inflammatory indexes between the two groups before the treatment;the inflammatory indexes of the study group were lower than those of the control group after the treatment for 3 days(P<0.05).The pain scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group after the treatment for 3,7,and 14 days(P<0.05).There was significant difference in the result of bacterial culture for wound secretions between the two groups after the treatment for 7 and 14 days(P<0.05);the positive rate of bacterial culture of the study group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The score of the study group was lower, there was between-group difference in the growing status of wound granulation tissues after the treatment for 7 and 14 days(P<0.05);there was no sig-nificant difference in the first 3 days. The wound healing time of the study group was shorter than that of the con-trol group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION rhEGF combined with bFGF may facilitate the remission of wound pain and inflammatory response, remarkably reduce the incidence of bacterial infection, and accelerate the growth of wound granulation as well as the wound healing. The method can achieve favorable clinical effect and does not have any side effects, and it is worthy to be promoted in the hospital.
