Design and application of closed collection device of condensate water of ventilators
OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of self-design closed collection device of condensate water of ventila-tors on management of pipelines of the ventilators.METHODS A total of 214 patients who were treated with inva-sive ventilators in intensive care unit(ICU)of the First Hospital of Jiaxing from Mar 1,2021 to Nov 30,2021 were assigned as the control group, the condensate water was collected with the use of routine pipeline water col-lection cup and was poured out based on the routine procedures.206 patients who were treated with invasive venti-lators in the ICU from Feb 1,2022 to Jul 31,2022 were assigned as the study group, the condensate water of the ventilators was collected by using the closed collection device. The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP),qualified rate of management of condensate water and time period of daily nursing were observed and compared between the two groups.RESULTS The incidence of VAP was 6.31%in the study group,12.61%in the control group, and there was significant difference(P<0.05).The qualified rate of management of condensate water of ventilator pipelines was 69.88%in the study group,55.4%in the control group, and there was signifi-cant difference(P<0.05).The daily nursing time of condensate water disposal was(45.34±2.23)min in the study group,(77.71±3.96)min in the control group, and there was significant difference(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The closed collection device of condensate water reduces the incidence of VAP,raises the qualified rate of management of condensate water, remarkably shortens the daily nursing time of management of condensate water, and raises the nursing work efficiency. It has certain significance for clinical practice.
