Correlation between PAI-1 gene polymorphism and sepsis due to burn wound infections
OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation between profibrinolytic activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1)gene polymorphism and burn wound infections and sepsis.METHODS A total of 150 patients with burns over more than 30%of the total body surface area were selected from the burn and plastic department of 910 Hospital of the Joint Logistics Support Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army from Mar 2020 to Mar 2023.Total of 75 patients with post-burn sepsis were recruited as the test group, and the other 75 patients with no post-burn sepsis were in the control group.RESULTS Compared with the control group, the rate of 4G/4G genotype of PAI-1 gene in the experimental group increased(P<0.05),while the rate of 5G/5G genotype decreased(P<0.05);the fre-quency of 4G allele increased(P<0.05).The PAI-1 index in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group[(65.23±14.56)μg/L vs.(44.26±11.58)μg/L,P<0.05)].CONCLUSION The 4G/5G polymor-phism of PAI-1 promoter region is closely related to the occurrence of burn infections and sepsis, and the 4G ho-mozygote is a high risk factor.PAI-1 increased in the plasma of burn infected patients with sepsis.
