Analysis of antibacterial activity of biapenem against common clinical bacteria
OBJECTIVE To detect the antibacterial activity of biapenem against common clinical bacteria in vitro, and to provide experimental basis for the establishment of drug sensitivity breakpoints and clinical medication guid-ance of biapenem.METHODS A total of 327 strains of common clinical bacteria frozen in Yunnan New Kunhua Hospital in 2022 were recovered, including Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii complex. The drug sensitivity above strains to biapenem, imipenem and meropenem was determined by K-B agar diffusion method, and the diameter of the inhibitory circle of different bacteria to the three drugs was compared.RESULTS There were differences in the drug susceptibility rates of different bacteria to biapenem:E.coli had the highest drug sensitivity rate(100.00%),followed by K.pneumoniae(98.21%),P.aeruginosa(69.23%),and A.bauerii(8.38%).The difference in the inhibition diameter of A.baumannii to the three drugs was not significant, while that of other three bacteria was significantly different(P<0.05).And the diameter of the inhibition circle of bipenem and meropenem were close to each other.CONCLUSION Bipenem has the strongest antibacterial activity in Enterobacteriaceae, but the antibacterial activity against non-fermented bacte-ria is not good enough. In particular, the antibacterial activity against genus Acinetobacter is very low.Although the antibacterial activities of the three carbapenes against the above four clinically common bacteria are different, but the sensitivity were consistent.According to the implementation standards of antimicrobial susceptibility es-tablished by clinical and laboratory standards institute-M100,the drug susceptibility cutex of biapenem can refer to meropenem not Imipenem.
