Expressions of lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with dual infections of hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses
OBJECTIVE To explore the expressions of lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of the patients with dual infections of hepatitis B virus(HBV)and hepatitis C virus(HCV).METHODS Totally 67 patients with chro-nic viral hepatitis who were treated in Maanshan Infectious Disease Hospital from Oct 2022 to Mar 2023 were re-cruited as the research subjects and were divided into the chronic hepatitis B group with 30 cases, the chronic hep-atitis C group with 25 cases and the dual infection group with 12 cases according to the type of viral infection.Meanwhile,30 healthy people who received physical examination were chosen as the control group. The lympho-cyte subsets in peripheral blood, including total counts of T lymphocytes(CD3+),total counts of B lymphocytes(CD19+),counts of helper T lymphocytes(CD4+),counts of cytotoxic T lymphocytes and counts of NK lympho-cytes(CD3-CD16+CD56+),were detected by flow cytometry, the ratio of CD4+to CD8+was determined, and the association among the groups was observed.RESULTS There were no significant differences in the age and gender among the groups. The levels of CD3+,CD19+,CD4+,CD8+,NK cell and CD4+/CD8+of the dual infection group were significantly lower than those of the healthy control group and the chronic hepatitis C group(P<0.05),as compared with the chronic hepatitis B group, there were no significant differences. The levels of CD3+,CD4+and NK cell of the chronic hepatitis B group were significantly lower than those of the healthy control group(P<0.05);the levels of CD3+,CD4+,CD19+and CD8+of the chronic hepatitis B group were significantly lower than those of the chronic hepatitis C virus group(P<0.05);the NK cell level of the hepatitis C group was signifi-cantly lower than that of the healthy control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets can be used for assessment of the immune level of the patients with dual infections of HBV and HCV,hepatitis B and hepatitis C,and they have great significance for immunotherapy and assessment of prognosis.
