Viral contamination of gastrointestinal endoscopes in 4 hospitals of western region from 2021 to 2022
OBJECTIVE To investigate the viral contamination of gastrointestinal endoscopes in 4 hospitals of west-ern region from 2021 to 2022.METHODS Totally 2 005 patients who underwent gastrointestinal endoscopy in the 4 hospitals of western region from Jan 2021 to Dec 2022 were recruited as the research subjects,511 of whom were from Chinese People's Liberation Army Special Medical Center(the hospital A),508 were from Chongqing Western Hospital(the hospital B),468 were from Chinese PLA 63790 Military Hospital(the hospital C),and 518 were from the Thirteenth People's Hospital of Chongqing(the hospital D).The status of viral contamination of gastrointestinal endoscopes was observed and compared among the 4 hospitals. The baseline information of the subjects, status of bacterial contamination, status of viral contamination and unqualified disinfection of endoscopes were observed and compared among the 4 hospitals.RESULTS There were no significant differences in the baseline information of the subjects, status of bacterial contamination and unqualified disinfection of endoscopes among the 4 hospitals;there were no significant differences in the rotavirus, norovirus, adenovirus and viral contamination, but there were significant differences in other viruses(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The incidence of viral contamina-tion of gastrointestinal endoscopes vary in different hospitals. It is necessary to complete the measures of control of endoscope-induced infection from the disinfection time of endoscopes, disinfection of indoor air, hand hygiene dis-infection,disinfection procedures and storage operation so as to avoid the risk of viral infection.
