Application of traditional teaching methods combined with e-learning in the training of clinical microbiology rotation trainees
OBJECTIVE To investigate the application value of traditional teaching methods combined with e-learn-ing in the training of trainees in rotating clinical microbiology laboratories.METHODS A total of 40 rotating trai-nees in the microbiology group of the laboratory from Jan 2021 to Aug 2023 were selected as the research subjects and were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group based on their educational level, with 20 students in each group, for a period of 2 months of teaching. The control group adopted traditional teaching methods, while the experimental group received a combination of traditional teaching methods and e-learning methods.A theoretical examination was conducted to both groups of physicians/technicians before the start of teaching, and a practical skills assessment was given at the end of teaching to compare the test scores of the two groups.RESULTS There was no significant difference in theoretical scores between the two groups before teaching. After teaching, there was no significant difference in the assessment scores of pathogenic microorganism cultiva-tion operations between the two groups, while the results of smear staining, microscopic examination, and com-prehensive assessment of drug sensitivity in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the con-trol group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The combination of traditional teaching methods and e-learning methods can significantly improve the teaching effectiveness of microbial rotation trainees.
