The application and effect of failure mode and effect analysis in quality control of cleaning and disinfection of gastrointestinal endoscopes
OBJECTIVE To explore the application effect of failure mode and effect analysis(FMEA)on quality control of cleaning and disinfection of gastrointestinal endoscopes.METHODS By means of risk priority number(RPN)combined with action priority(AP),the influencing factors for quality of cleaning and disinfection of gas-trointestinal endoscopes were identified for risk, analyzed and evaluated. The high risk points that needed to take intervention measures were screened out,the targeted intervention measures were formulated for risk control, and the effect on control of the risk was evaluated.RESULTS Totally five categories including imperfect organizational structure, system flow and self-supervision,poor personnel management, unqualified layouts and equipment facil-ities,unstandardized operation procedures and poor supervision, covering 44 risk points, were evaluated for risk. There were 9 risk points with the RPN greater than 125,3 of which were with the AP value of'H',and the im-provement effect was favorable after the targeted intervention measures were taken.CONCLUSION FMEA based on RPN combined with AP can be used for risk assessment of the influencing factors for the quality of cleaning and disinfection of gastrointestinal endoscopes, effectively identify the high risk points and improve the quality of cleaning and disinfection of the gastrointestinal endoscopes.
