Current status of implementation of new standards for cleaning and disinfection of flexible endoscopes in 44 public traditional Chinese medicine hospitals of Chongqing in 2023
OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of implementation of new standards for cleaning and disin-fection of flexible endoscopes in the secondary and above public traditional Chinese medicine hospitals so as to pro-vide theoretical bases and data support for next step works in nosocomial infection management quality control centers of the hospitals as well as research orientations.METHODS The secondary and above public traditional Chinese hospitals of the city were chosen as the research subjects,and a questionnaire survey was conducted for the current status of cleaning and disinfection of the flexible endoscopes and quality control management from May 2023 to Jul 2023.RESULTS A total of 44 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals,including 15 tertiary hospitals and 29 secondary hospitals,were enrolled in the study;44 questionnaires were recycled,with the effective recov-ery rate 100％.Among the 44 hospitals,there were 11 hospitals in which the number of cleaning and disinfection personnels could not meet the working requirements,3 hospitals in which the cleaning and disinfection room was not set up independently,38 hospitals in which the cleaning and disinfection personnel was classified as medical staff,6 hospitals that had the automatic cleaning and disinfection machine,8 hospitals that had informatization tracking system,20 hospitals that used compound chlorine-containing disinfectants,19 hospitals that used o-phthalaldehyde as the disinfectant,16 hospitals that used glutaraldehyde,40 hospitals in which the monitoring re-cords were stored according to standards,25 hospitals in which the use information of endoscopes could be tracea-ble,and 28 hospitals in which the detergent was used once for one endoscope.CONCLUSION The traditional Chi-nese medicine hospitals can basically follow the requirements for the cleaning and disinfection standards.However,there are still certain gaps in the configuration of facilities and equipment as well as the execution details of clean-ing and disinfection.A few of hospitals do not attach enough importance to the cleaning,disinfection and drying of the flexible endoscopes,and there is inconsistency in the monitoring of disinfectant concentrations during the process of use.It is necessary for the traditional Chinese medicine medical institutions to continuously improve in accordance with the new standards and raise the awareness of infection prevention and control so as to solve the difficulties and key problems in the quality control.
