Treg and IL-9 and TGF-β in patients with severe bronchial asthma and pulmonary infection and their prediction value
OBJECTIVE To investigate regulatory T-cell(Treg),IL9,and transforming growth factor-β,in pa-tients with severe bronchial asthma and pulmonary infection and their predictive value.METHODS The clinical da-ta of 198 patients with severe bronchial asthma admitted to Dongying Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shandong Province from June 2020 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, and the patients were divided in-to the infected group(61 cases)and the uninfected group(137 cases)according to the lung infection. The clinical characteristics, peripheral blood Treg,interleukin-9(IL-9),and transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β)levels were compared between the two groups and the diagnostic value of the combined detection of peripheral blood Treg and serum IL-9,and TGF-β for severe bronchial asthma complicating the pulmonary infection was analyzed by plotting the receiver operating characteristics(ROC)curve.RESULTS The age, proportion of combined diabetes mellitus, proportion of hypoproteinemia, and peripheral blood Treg, serum IL-9,and TGF-β in the infected group were higher than those in the uninfected group(P<0.05);the results of the ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of the combined detection of peripheral blood Treg and serum IL-9 and TGF-β for the diagnosis of severe bronchial asthma complicated with lung infection was 0.911,which was higher than that of the peripheral blood Treg and serum IL-9,TGF-β alone(0.794,0.808,0.806,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Lung infec-tions in patients with severe bronchial asthma were associated with age, complication with diabetes mellitus,hy-poproteinemia,and high levels of peripheral blood Treg, serum IL-9,and TGF-β,and the combination of periph-eral blood Treg and serum IL-9,and TGF-β levels had higher value in the diagnosis of lung infections in severe bronchial asthma.
