Pathogenic bacteria in patients with diabetic foot infection and relationship between serum IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8 and CRP levels and infection progression
OBJECTIVE To analyze the characteristics of pathogenic bacteria in patients with diabetic foot(DF)in-fection and the relationship between serum interleukin(IL)-17,IL-12p70,IL-8 and C-reactive protein(CRP)lev-els and infection progression.METHODS The clinical data of 68 patients with DF infection(infection group)and 68 patients without DF infection(non-infection group)admitted to Fuyang Cancer Hospital of Anhui Province from Jan.2020 to Oct.2023 were retrospectively analyzed, the pathogenic bacteria in infection group were detec-ted,the levels of serum IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8 and CRP in the two groups were recorded, the correlation between degree of infection and levels of serum IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8 and CRP in infected patients was evaluated. The in-fection group was treated with standardized comprehensive treatment. The changes of serum IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8 and CRP levels in infection group during infection period and infection control period were observed.RESULTS A total of 108 strains of pathogenic bacteria were detected in 68 patients with DF infection,of which 53 strains of gram negative accounted for 49.07% ,48 strains of gram positive accounted for 44.44% ,and 7 strains of fungi ac-counted for 6.48% ;The serum levels of IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8,and CRP in the infection group were(22.60±4.22)pg/ml,(4.08±0.83)pg/ml,(332.11±35.19)pg/ml and(16.02±3.45)mg/L,respectively,higher than those in the non-infection group(P<0.05).Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the degree of DF in-fection was positively correlated with serum IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8,and CRP levels(r=0.513,0.722,0.896,0.763,all P<0.001);The serum levels of IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8,and CRP in the infection group during the in-fection control period were(18.97±3.04)pg/ml,(3.05±0.62)pg/ml,(250.45±33.26)pg/ml,and(11.87±2.35)mg/L,respectively,lower than those of the infection period(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS Gram-negative bacteria were the most common pathogenic bacteria in patients with DF infection.Serum IL-17,IL-12p70,IL-8 and CRP might be involved in the disease progression and outcomes of DF infection.
