Levels of IL-17,IFN-γ/IL-4 in patients with herpes zoster virus infection and their predictive value for disease degree
OBJECTIVE To explore serum interleukin-17(IL-17),interferon γ(IFN-γ)/interleukin-4(IL-4)in pa-tients with herpes zoster virus infection and their predictive value for disease degree.METHODS A total of 88 pa-tients with herpes zoster virus infection admitted to Lishui Central Hospital between Mar.2022 and Dec.2023 were retrospectively selected as the study group,and 50 healthy medical checkups during the same period were se-lected as the control group,and serum IL-17 and IFN-γ/IL-4 levels were statistically analyzed in the two groups.According to disease severity,patients in study group were divided into the mild-to-moderate group(n=21)and the severe group(n=67),the levels of IL-17 and IFN-γ/IL-4 were statistically analyzed,and the predictive value of IL-17 and IFN-γ/IL-4 on the degree of disease in patients with herpes zoster virus infection was assessed using the receiver operator characteristics(ROC)curve.RESULTS The levels of serum IL-17 and IL-4 in the study group were(7.14±1.72)and(6.16±1.27)pg/ml,higher than those in the control group,while levels of IFN-γand IFN-γ/IL-4 were(1.32±0.37)pg/ml and 0.23±0.06,lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum IL-17 and IL-4 in the severe group were higher than those in the mild-to-moderate group,while levels of IFN-γ and IFN-γ/IL-4 were lower than those in the mild-to-moderate group(P<0.05).ROC curves a-nalysis showed that AUC of IL-17 combined with IFN-γ/IL-4 for predicting herpes zoster virus infection was 0.904,which was higher than that of IL-17(0.729)and IFN-γ/IL-4(0.810)single detection.Serum IL-17>7.66 pg/ml and IFN-γ/IL-4 ≤0.21 were the influencing factors of disease severity in patients with herpes zoster virus infection.CONCLUSION The serum increased and decreased in Patients with herpes zoster virus infection had elevated serum IL-17 levels and reduced IFN-γ/IL-4 levels,and the combination of the two had a predictive value for the extent of disease.
