Survey on status of core competencies of full-time nurses of infection prevention and control in medical institutions of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
OBJECTIVE To investigate the status of core competencies of full-time nurses in infection prevention and control in medical institutions.METHOD A questionnaire survey on the core competency survey for full-time infec-tion control specialists was conducted on November 7-17,2023,using the convenient sampling method,and a total of 585 questionnaires filled out by sensory control specialists of secondary-level and above medical and health care institutions in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were collected and surveyed,among which 553 ques-tionnaires were valid,with a validity rate of 94.53% .RESULTS The median total core competency score of the sensory control nurses was 82.39(77.52,93.52)points,with the highest score of 85.71(80.00,100.00)points for training ability of infection control knowledge and skills and a low score of 76.00(72.00,90.00)points for or-ganizational and collaborative competencies.Differences in core competencies between full-time sensory control nurses who had been engaged in infection management for a number of years,whether or not they held a post cer-tificates,and whether or not they participated in sensory control academic conferences inside and outside of the province every year were statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION According to the results of this sur-vey,the core competence score of full-time nurses in infection prevention and control was at a medium-high level,and we should pay attention to the cultivation and improvement of the core competence of infection control nurses,focus on the training of sensory control professional knowledge in the process of continuing education,strengthen the cultivation and reserve of sensory control professional teachers,continuously improve the education and train-ing system,establish professional qualification certification,and improve the incentive mechanism for promotion,so that we can further play an important role of full-time infection control nurses in the prevention and control of nosocomial infections.
