Survey on the status of fully automatic cleaning and disinfecting machine in gastrointestinal endoscopy center of 75 hospitals in Suzhou
OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of fully automatic cleaning and automatic cleaning and dis-infection machine in gastrointestinal endoscopy centers of medical institutions in Suzhou City,China.METHOD For medical institutions engaged in digestive endoscopy technology in Suzhou City,a questionnaire survey was conducted to study the basic situation,reprocessing center management and automatic washer allocation and main-tenance.RESULTS Of the 75 medical institutions investigated,25.33％of the hospitals set up endoscopic repro-cessing centers and were uniformly responsible for quality control by disinfection supply centers.A total of 86 au-tomatic washer-disinfectors were equipped in 28 hospitals endoscopy centers,of which the allocation rate in tertia-ry hospitals was 75.58％.22.22％of tertiary care hospitals failed to match the endoscope diameter size when se-lecting a dedicated endoscope brush.In terms of equipment function,81.40％of the reprocessing equipment had leakage test function,52.33％of the equipment could adjust the cleaning and disinfection temperature to meet dif-ferent cleaning needs,90.70％of the equipment had self-disinfection procedures to reduce manual intervention;while 82.56％of the equipment could automatically record the cleaning and disinfection process and print the rele-vant data,which was helpful for tracking traceability.In the past six months,50％of hospitals had automatic washer-disinfector maintenance records,mainly due to too high or too low liquid level of disinfectant,as well as clean compressed air filter membrane blockage.CONCLUSIONS The rate of automatic cleaning and disinfection machine equipped with flexible endoscopes in Suzhou Digestive Endoscopy Center still needed to be improved,the current function of equipment lacked a unified standardization of norms and standards,and there were numerous problems with the maintenance of equipment.In order to ensure the safety of diagnosis and treatment for patients,hospital management should intensify the maintenance and overhaul efforts,standardize the relevant performance parameters,and strengthen the monitoring of the cleaning and disinfection effect of endoscope.At the same time,attention should be paid to improving and updating the function of the equipment to ensure that the equipment could meet the clinical needs and guarantee the safety of patient diagnosis and treatment.
