Air disinfection effect and safety of plasma surface discharge air disinfector
OBJECTIVE To investigate the disinfection and safety effects of plasma surface discharge air disinfection machines in hospitals.METHOD After the end of each day's medical activities, two samplers with different oper-ating principles were used to collect natural bacteria for on-site disinfection tests as well as simulated on-site disin-fection tests using a six-stage sieve air impingement sampler, the killing effect of the plasma surface discharge air disinfector on indicator bacteria and natural bacteria were observed. An ozone analyzer was used to detect ozone leakage during operation.RESULTS After 60 minutes of disinfection, the killing rate of plasma surface discharge air disinfector for Staphylococcus aureus was>99%.Following continuous disinfection for 2 hours, the extinction rate of airborne natural bacteria was>90%,and there was no statistically significant difference in the extinction rate obtained by the two types of samplers, but there were differences in the types of microorganisms collected. The amount of ozone leakage in the process of operation was less than 0.1 mg/m3.CONCLUSION The plasma sur-face discharge air disinfector can effectively reduce the total number of bacteria in the air of outpatient clinics, with good disinfection effect, and can effectively block the transmission of pathogenic microorganisms, thereby reduc-ing the incidence of cross-infection.
