Effectiveness of a hospital-acquired infection surveillance information system combined with comprehensive interventions in hospital-acquired infection management
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effectiveness of hospital-acquired infection surveillance information sys-tems combined with integrated interventions in hospital-acquired infection management.MEHODS The nosocomi-al infection status of inpatients inXi'an People's Hospital(Xi'an No.4 Hospital)from Jan.2013 to Dec.2023 were selected, and a series of comprehensive and progressive measures were implemented, including the application of real-time monitoring and intelligent early warning of nosocomial infections management software, improvement of the compliance rate of hand hygiene of healthcare personnel, establishment of a workgroup for monitoring doctors and nurses, risk management of key department, early warnings value management for positive test results,time-ly feedback through"information feedback sheets","nosocomial infection bulletin","quality inspection review",et al.,and the monitoring status from Jan.2014 to Dec.2023(after intervention)and Jan.2014 to Dec.2013(be-fore intervention)were analyzed.RESULTS A total of 579,762 cases were monitored, and 2,019 nosocomial infec-tions occurred, with an infection rate of 0.35%;Before and after the intervention, the rate of nosocomial infection dropped from 0.91%to 0.22%(P<0.05),and the incidence of nosocomial infection with multidrug-resistant or-ganisms dropped from 0.16%to 0.03%.The rate of surgery site infection dropped from 1.37%to 0.02%;The rate of hand hygiene compliance increased from 63.60%to 83.01%(P<0.05).the rate of nosocomial infection in the Department of Intensive Care Unit decreased from 2.77%to 1.38%.The rate of nosocomial infection in neo-nates decreased from 0.50%to 0.31%,with difference not statistically significant.Nosocomial infections were predominately in the lower respiratory tract sputum specimens(41.25%).Multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli(53.39%)was dominant.CONCLUSION Hospital-acquired infection surveillance information systems combined with comprehensive interventions were effective in reducing the nosocomial infections, the incidence of nosocomial infections and those caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.
