Application of Femoral Venous Catheterization versus Peripheral Venous Catheterization in the Emergency Management of Critically Ill Patients with Advanced Cancer
Objective To compare the application value of femoral vein catheterization and peripheral vein catheterization in patients with advanced-stage cancer. Methods 60patients with advanced cancer admitted to the oncology department of Wuhe County People's Hospital from January 2019 to December 2023 were selected as the research subjects.According to the different catheterization routes, they were divided into the femoral vein cath-eterization group(observation group)and the peripheral vein catheterization group(control group),with 30 cases in each group. The catheter-related indicators, complications, and quality of life of the two groups of patients were compared. Results The catheterization time of the observation group was significantly shorter than that of the control group(P<0.001);the catheter indwelling time of the observation group was significantly longer than that of the control group(P<0.001);the one-time success rate of catheterization of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P=0.006);the rate of readjusting catheter position of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P=0.001).The incidence of complications in the observation group was 3.33%,which was significantly lower than the incidence of complications(33.33%)in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.003).The ECOG score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.001),and the KPS score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P=0.006).Conclusion In patients with advanced cancer, compared to peripheral vein catheterization, femoral vein catheterization has the advantages of shorter catheterization time, higher one-time success rate, fewer complications, and is beneficial to improve the quality of life of patients.
