Objective To compare the efficacy of different emergency lithotripsy techniques in patients with mid-to-distal ureteral stones accompanied by acute renal colic. Methods A retrospective analysis was conduct-ed on 150 cases of mid-to-distal ureteral stones with acute renal colic treated in our hospital from January 2020 to December 2023.Patients were divided into two groups based on the lithotripsy method:the ureteroscopic lithotrip-sy(USL)treatment group(observation group,n=75)and the extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL)treat-ment group(control group,n=75).Hospital-related indicators, stone clearance rate, and complication rates were compared between the two groups. Results The observation group had shorter surgery time and postoperative hematuria duration compared to the control group(P<0.001).However,the observation group had longer hospital stays and higher hospitalization costs than the control group(P<0.001).The stone clearance rate in the observation group was 94.67%,significantly higher than that in the control group(81.33%)(P<0.05).The complication rate in the observation group was 8.00%,not significantly different from that in the control group(12.00%)(P>0.05).Conclusion For mid-to-distal ureteral stones,USL can shorten surgery time and reduce hematuria duration,of-fering a higher stone clearance rate and safety, albeit at a higher cost.
