Objective To explore the clinical value of effective first aid measures and nursing plans for emergency outpatient nurses in patients with sudden death. Methods The clinical data of 60 patients with sudden death in Suzhou BOE Hospital from May 2021 to May 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. According to whether professional training is conducted,30 patients with sudden death from May 2021 to August 2022 were set as the control group, and 30 patients with sudden death from August 2022 to May 2024 were set as the observation group. The distribution of sudden death sites and witnesses, the time required for first aid,the effect of first aid,and the vital signs of patients in the two groups were compared. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the location of sudden death and the distribution of witnesses (P>0.05). The sites of sud-den death were mainly outdoors, accounting for 43.33% and 46.67%,respectively. The first witnesses were mainly passers-by,accounting for 50.00% and 43.33% respectively. The time from arrival to the start of defibrillation in the observation group (P<0.001) and the time from sudden death to the start of chest compressions (P=0.002) were significantly shorter than those in the control group. The duration of chest compressions in the observation group (P<0.001) was significantly longer than that in the control group. The effective rate of first aid was 63.33% (19/30) among the 19 subjects in the observation group, which was significantly higher than that of the 10 cases in the control group, and the effective rate of first aid was 13.33% (10/30). Immediately after resuscitation, there was no significant difference in SBP and SpO2 levels between the two groups (P>0.05). 10 min after resusci-tation,the levels of SBP and SpO2 in the two groups increased. The levels of SBP and SpO2 in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Sudden death mostly occurs out-doors,with passers-by being the primary first witnesses Professionally trained outpatient and emergency nurses can effectively rescue and care patients who have died of sudden death at the first time, which can significantly shorten the time required for first aid, improve the survival rate of patients, and improve patients'vital signs.
