Efficacy analysis of balloon post-dilatation retrievable stent technology following failed thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke
Objective To investigate the efficacy of balloon post-dilatation retrievable stent technology in patients with acute ischemic stroke who have failed thrombectomy. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of patients with acute ischemic stroke who failed thrombectomy and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in our hospital from October 2020 to December 2023.The control group received non-re-trievable stent implantation, while the experimental group underwent balloon-expandable retrievable stent technology.Vascular recanalization, surgical costs, and prognosis were evaluated. Results A total of 30 patients were included, with 13 in the control group and 17 in the experimental group. There were no significant differences in modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction(mTICI)scores and modified Rankin Scale(mRS)scores at 90 days post-operation between the two groups. However, the experimental group significantly shortened the time to vascular recanalization(P<0.001)and reduced surgical consumable costs(P<0.001).Conclusion Balloon post-dilatation retrievable stent implantation can be used as a remedial treat-ment for patients with acute large vessel occlusive ischemic stroke who have failed thrombectomy. It demonstrates good safety and efficacy, and can reduce the time to vascular recanalization and surgical consumable costs.
