With the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure,China has experienced a phenomenon of"reverse urbanization"where a large number of migrant workers return to their hometowns.Under the trend of"anti urbanization",cultivating new professional farmers is an inherent requirement for achieving rural revitalization.As a social identity,"new professional farmers"have three attributes:professionalization,specialization,and marketization.Returning migrant workers have the skill foundation and cultural genes to transform into new professional farmers.The driving force for the transformation of returning migrant workers to new professional farmers mainly comes from policy driven,rural development driven,and internal driving forces for the development of farmers themselves.Rural vocational education has irreplaceable value in cultivating new types of vocational farmers for transformation.Therefore,vocational education should play a role in value guidance and enhance the sense of professional identity towards new types of vocational farmers;Innovate the institutional mechanism for the integrated development of urban and rural vocational education,and enhance the resource quality of rural vocational education;Design educational content for modern farmers and empower the improvement of professional efficiency for new types of professional farmers.
