The single and joint acute toxic effect of Hg2+and Cd2+on Gafrarium tumidum was studied with the method of static toxicity test. In the single toxic test, the data of mortality rate and logarithm of concentrations were analyzed with the linear regression analytical approach after 96h treatment. The median lethal concentrations (LC50) of Hg2+and Cd2+at 96h to Gafrarium tumidum were 0.945mg·L-1 and 13.367mg·L-1 respectively. And the safe concentrations(SC)of above two heavy metals were 0.0095mg·L-1 and 0.1337mg·L-1, respectively. In consequence, the toxicity of Hg2+was stronger than the Cd2+. Results of joint toxic test revealed that the joint toxicity of Hg2+and Cd2+presented as additive effect. By contrast, the tolerance of Gafrarium tumidum to Hg2+and Cd2+were relatively strong. As well, the biological accumulation of Hg2+and Cd2+might be strong, so the heavy metals content monitoring of Gafrarium tumidum should be strengthened.
