Analysis and Evaluation of Muscle Nutrient Composition in Five Cultured Populations of Pelodiscus sinensis
[Objective]The study aims to analyze and evaluate the muscle nutritional quality of the main breeding populations of Pelodiscus sinensis in China, providing a basis for genetic improvement of quality traits of P.sinensis and the development of related formulated feeds.[Method]The general nutrient composition, amino acids, and fatty acid contents of muscle tissues from five breeding populations in Dongguan,Gaoyao,Xiaoshan,Yuncheng and Yuyao were compared.[Result](1)Significant differences(P<0.05)were observed in protein, crude fat, moisture, and ash levels between the groups, whereas the variance in total sugar content was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Among these groups, the Xiaoshan group exhibited the highest crude protein content and the lowest moisture content, while the Dongguan group had the highest crude fat content but the lowest crude protein content. The Gaoyao group displayed the highest crude ash content but the lowest crude fat content. In contrast, both the Yuncheng and Yuyao groups exhibited moderate levels of conventional nutrients.(2)The total content of essential amino acids varied from 8.65%(in Dongguan)to 10.21%(in Xiaoshan),while the total non-essential amino acids ranged from 8.61%(in Dongguan)to 10.73%(in Xiaoshan).Notably, the muscle of the P.sinensis was found to be particularly rich in glutamic acid, followed by aspartic acid.Furthermore,it's important to highlight that phenylalanine + tyrosine were identified as the first limiting amino acids.(3)The fatty acid composition in the muscle remained consistent across all five groups, with each group exhibiting the presence of 10 distinct fatty acids. The total detected fatty acids ranged from 348.41 mg/100 g(in Gaoyao)to 708.55 mg/100 g(in Dongguan).Specifically, the levels of total saturated fatty acids spanned from 133.69 mg/100 g(in Gaoyao)to 212.58 mg/100 g(in Dongguan),while total monounsaturated fatty acids varied from 86.02 mg/100 g(in Gaoyao)to 246.25 mg/100 g(in Dongguan).Additionally, total polyunsaturated fatty acids ranged from 128.70 mg/100 g(in Gaoyao)to 249.73 mg/100 g(in Dongguan).[Conclusion]The muscles of the five farmed P.sinensis groups were characterized by their high protein and low-fat content, rendering them excellent sources of dietary protein.Notably, the Xiaoshan group exhibited the most prominent high-protein,low-fat nutritional profile, while the Dongguan group may offer enhanced flavor and texture due to its higher fat and fatty acid content.
