Study on Fecundity Characteristics of Male Individual of Cultured Sepiella maindroni
The biological indicators of cultured Sepiella maindroni collected in Xixuan island farm in Zhoushan city were analyzed to explore the reproductive mode of the male cultured ones. The effective fecun-dity of male individuals and its variations with biological indicators were assessed using model fitting analysis. The specimens were measured 32-102 mm in mantle length and weighted from 5.3-128.7 g.The Gonadosomat-ic index ranging from 1.87%to 3.64%and Spermatophoric complex index ranging from 0.32%to 4.00%,re-spectively,and both increased gradually with gonad development. The length and weight of spermatophoric sac increased with sexual maturation measured 25-55 mm in length and 0.30-1.54 g in weight, respectively. The spermatophoric sac's weight showed a linear regression on its length, andbothof them reached to the highest value at the stage Ⅵ.The effective fecundity was estimated from 41 to 3 824 spermatophores and the relative effective fecundity by mantle length was estimated from 0.52 to 56.24 spermatophores per millimeter, which in-creased gradually with the growth and development of individuals and reached the maximum at stage Ⅵ.The spermatophores are measured from 1.74 to 12.87 mm in length and from 0.000 1 to 0.002 6 g in weight,re-spectively.
