The benthic survey conducted in the spring and summer of 2018 in intertidal zones of Nanji Islands National Marine Nature Reserve found 525 individual samples of polychaeteous annelids.Based on morphology,22 polychaete species were identified in 10 families. The cumulative Shannon-Wiener indices of biodiversity(H′)in the seven sampling sites over the two seasons were 3.61 at Huokun'ao,2.91 at Dachaiyu,3.22 at Houji,2.05 at Longchuanjiao,3.44 at Mazu'ao,1.43 at Xiama'an,and 2.69 at Shangma'an,respec-tively.Huokun'ao and Mazu'ao had the highest levels of diversity. No correlation was observed between the distribution of polychaete diversity and conservation status of the localities. This may be because the data col-lection was insufficient to infer solid results;however, this study could serve a technical endeavor to facilitate the future long-term biodiversity survey, monitoring and evaluation in the Reserve, especially in terms of the impacts of human activities on marine biodiversity, which could provide scientific guidelines for the manage-ment of national marine nature reserve.
