A Visualized Analysis of the Studies on the Translation of Buddhist Scriptures in China(1978-2023)
Adopting bibliometric methods,this paper uses CNKI as its data source to examine status quo,hot spots,developing path and frontiers in the field of Buddhist scripture translation studies in China from 1978 to 2023.It is found that over the past four decades,research on the translation of Buddhist scriptures has undergone three developmental phases.The journal of comprehensive university is the main academic platform for publishing in this field;however,there is yet no influential core group of authors in this field.Key research areas include the relationship between Chinese-translated Buddhist scriptures and the evolution of Chinese,the translation history of Buddhist scriptures,studies on translators and their works,translation strategies and methods,and the relationship between Buddhist scripture translation and traditional Chinese thought and culture.The scope of research in this field has further expanded,with an increasing diversity of research perspectives.Based on these findings,the paper proposes four insightful suggestions for future research.
