The complex systems approach to metaphor analysis views metaphorical language as interconnected and evolving systems,and studies the systematicity of metaphors in context,forging a new turn in cognitive linguistics.This paper adopts methods of the complex systems approach to metaphor analysis and examines the evolving systematicity of metaphors in the New Development Bank's press release.The results reveal that the Bank constructed its image by two systematic metaphorical stories:"becoming a powerful actor"and"building close relationships with travel companions".The two metaphorical stories emerged from a micro level and replaced abstract facts,describing the status and goals of the Bank.The paper aims to enrich the methods for metaphor-led discourse analysis and provide references for constructing the BRICS's international communication discourse.
