Review of the Integration and Development of Foreign Language Teaching and Information Technology:A Visual Analysis Based on CiteSpace Software
Technological innovation is an important force in promoting foreign language teaching reform.This article presents a visual analysis of the integration of educational technology into foreign language teaching from 1979 to 2023 in China.It is found that there are three development stages including the initial exploratory period(1979-1992),the rapid growth period(1993-2012)and the stable maturity period(2013-2023).Throughout the whole process,four development characteristics emerge:(1)the integration concept is upgraded from audio-visual teaching to resource integration and structure integration;(2)the technology media has transited from audio-visual media to interactive media,as well as intelligent media;(3)there are three types of teaching,including computer-aided teaching,multimedia teaching and intelligent teaching;(4)there are three types of learning correspondingly,concerning independent training based on audio-visual materials,interactive learning based on information network and personalized learning based on intelligent technology.In the future,information technology will be fully integrated into foreign language education in an all-round way,which changes the forms of teaching resources,ways of teaching and learning as well as modes of evaluation,highlighting the development trend of intelligent teaching.
