War Trauma and Identity Reconstruction:A Reading of Shankari Chandran's Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens
Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens is one of the important works of Sri Lankan Australian novelist Shankari Chandran.This novel focuses on the theme of the Sri Lankan civil war and shows readers the trauma that this war has brought to civilians.This paper mainly analyzes the trauma witnessed and transmitted by the survivors and the indirect recipients of war trauma in the novel from the perspectives of war survivors,indirect recipients of war trauma,and post-war identity reconstruction,revealing the process in which they experience and then heal the trauma,and leading the readers to examine war trauma and consider how to heal it.
