Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of the hydro-acupuncture knife treatment method for lateral epicondylitis of the humerus by combining treatment through the Yangming meridian and the Taiyin meridian.Methods The study selected 83 patients with lateral epicondylitis of the humerus who were admitted to the Department of Orthopedics at Wenzhou Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital from November 2021 to January 2023.The patients were randomly assigned to either the observation group or the control group.The observation group received treatment using the hydro-acupuncture knife along the Yangming meridian and the Taiyin meridian,while the control group received treatment only at the"Ashi"point using the hydro-acupuncture knife.Compared the Short Form MPQ Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ)and Mayo Elbow Joint Function Score and clinical efficacy between two groups before treatment and at 3,6,and 12 months after treatment.Results At 3 months after treatment,the observation group exhibited greater improvement in MPQ score and Mayo score compared to the control group(P<0.05).Additionally,the cure rate in the observation group(92.8%)was higher than that in the control group(73.2%)(P<0.05).At 6 months after treatment,the control group showed a significant rebound in MPQ score and Mayo score compared to the observation group(P<0.01).Furthermore,the cure rate in the observation group(90.5%)was higher than that in the control group(70.7%)(P<0.05).At 12 months after treatment,the deterioration and rebound magnitude in MPQ score and Mayo score were significantly lower in the observation to the control group(73.0%,65.9%)(P<0.05).Conclusion The hydro-acupuncture knife treatment using the Yangming meridian and the Taiyin meridian combined treatment method demonstrates superior efficacy in treating lateral epicondylitis of the humerus compared to the hydro-acupuncture knife treatment at the"Ashi"point only.This method effectively and sustainably reduces elbow joint pain,controls the recurrence trend of lateral epicondylitis,and restores elbow joint function,making it highly suitable for clinical application and promotion.
