Objective To investigate the clinical application of nasal floor approach combined with ultrasonic bone knife in the extraction of maxillary high embedded supernumerary teeth. Methods From August 2021 to November 2022,the clinical and imaging data of 9 patients with 12 maxillary high level embedded supernumerary teeth, who were treated in the Department of stomatology,Li Huili Hospital of Ningbo Medical Center were retrospectively analyzed.Combined with the relevant literature, the clinical features, extraction time, surgical approach, and the important role of oral CT and ultrasonic bone knife in the extraction process of maxillary high embedded supernumerary teeth were analyzed and discussed.Among the 9 patients,6 were male and 3 were female, with an average age of 25.89 years, ranging from 7 to 65 years.Among the 9 patients,1 patient had 2 maxillary high embedded supernumerary teeth,1 patient had 3 maxillary high embedded supernumerary teeth, and 2 patients had cysts. All patients underwent oral CT examination, and were diagnosed as maxillary high embedded supernumerary teeth, which were all close to the nasal floor. The teeth were positioned before surgery.During the operation, the teeth were extracted by nasal floor approach combined with minimally invasive ultrasound bone knife, and preventive anti-infection treatment of cephalosporin was given before and after surgery. Results All the 9 cases were successfully extracted with short operation time, less trauma, less swelling and less bleeding. Conclusion Oral CT plays an important role in the location of supernumerary teeth.Nasal approach combined with ultrasonic bone knife is an ideal way for extraction of maxillary high embedded supernumerary teeth.
