Objective To explore the effect of acupuncture combined with transcranial direct current stimulation on consciousness disorder patients. Methods Forty patients with consciousness disorder after brain trauma who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were randomly divided into four groups, including the acupuncture group, the electrical stimulation group(transcranial direct current stimulation),the combined group(acupuncture combined transcranial direct current),and the control group, with 10 persons in each group. The acupuncture group was treated with"Xingnao Kaiqiao"acupuncture method and drugs, while the electrical stimulation group was treated with transcranial direct current stimulation and drugs. The combined group received acupuncture combined with transcranial direct current stimulation and drug therapy, while the control group received only routine drug therapy. Before and after the treatment, the consciousness level of the four groups including coma recovery scale revised(CRS-R),Glasgow coma scale(GCS),and the upper limb somatosensory evoked potential(USEP)were evaluated. Results After the treatment, the GCS scores,CRS-R scores, and USEP scores of the acupuncture group, the electric stimulation group, and the combination group in the four groups were better than those of the control group, with statistical differences(P<0.05).After the treatment,GCS scores,CRS-R scores and USEP in the combined group were higher than those in the acupuncture group and the electric stimulation group, with statistical difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture combined with transcranial direct current stimulation can significantly shorten the coma time, improve the cognitive function of patients, promote the recovery of consciousness disorders after brain trauma, and help patients recover from diseases.
