Objective To observe the effect of umbilical acupuncture combined with tropisetron in the treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting(CINV).Methods In this study,70 patients who had received chemotherapy and had CINV were randomly divided into the umbilical acupuncture group(35 cases,1 case dropped off)and the conventional drug group(35 cases,no dropped off).The conventional drug group was treated with tropisetron hydrochloride injection by micro-pump.On the basis of conventional medication,the umbilicus acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture at Xun(Chen),Li(Wu),Kun(Wei)and Gen(Chou),leaving the umbilical acupuncture for 55 minutes each time.Drugs in both groups were used before chemotherapy,and the umbilical acupuncture group was treated with umbilical acupuncture before the first day,second and third days of chemotherapy.The grade of nausea and vomiting and index of nausea and vomiting and retching(INVR)score were compared between the two groups before chemotherapy and 12,36,60 hours after chemotherapy.The functional status score(KPS)of the two groups before chemotherapy and 60 hours after chemotherapy was evaluated.Results At 36 hours and 60 hours after chemotherapy,the nausea and vomiting in the umbilical acupuncture group was improved compared with the conventional drug group(P<0.05),and the INVR scores in the umbilical acupuncture group were lower than those in the conventional drug group(P<0.05).In the intra-group comparison,the grade of nausea and vomiting and INVR score between the two groups was compared before chemotherapy,12 hours after chemotherapy,36 hours after chemotherapy and 60 hours after chemotherapy,and the overall difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The KPS score of the umbilical acupuncture group was higher than that of the conventional drug group at 60 hours after chemotherapy(P<0.05).The effective rate of the umbilical acupuncture group was 82.4%,which was higher than 57.1%in the conventional drug group(P<0.05).Conclusion Umbilical acupuncture combined with tropisetron is superior to tropisetron alone in treating CINV,it can not only reduce the degree of nausea and vomiting,but also improve the quality of life of CINV patients to a certain extent.
