Objective To analyze the value of CD56 expression in the prognosis and progression of multiple myeloma(MM).Methods According to CD56 expression,53 MM patients were divided into the positive and the negative groups. The general clinical data and laboratory indexes of the two groups were compared. Results The probability of the occurrence of extramedullary infiltration was significantly higher in the CD56-MM patients compared with that of the CD56+ patients(P=0.027).There was s statistically significant difference in PFS and OS between the two groups(P<0.05).elevated LDH at the initial diagnosis was an independent risk factor for poor PFS in MM patients(P=0.037).Conclusion CD56 expression in MM has some clinical value on whether plasma cell extramedullary lesions occur, plasma cell leukemia transformation, and PFS in MM patients.
