Objective To analyse the clinical efficacy of dragon-tiger contending needling at Xi-cleft points plus electroacupuncture in treating the comorbidity of postherpetic neuralgia(PHN).Methods Seventy cases of eligible PHN patients were collected and randomly divided into 35 cases each in the treatment and control group by the random envelope method. The treatment group was intervened by dragon-tiger contending needling at Xi-cleft points plus electroacupuncture and gabapentin was administered at the same time, while the control group was treated with gabapentin alone. The clinical efficacy, zoster brief pain inventory(ZBPI),hospital anxiety depression scale(HADS)and pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)of the two groups were analyzed. Results In the comparison of the score of the pain, the treatment group starting at the end of the 4th week was better than the control group(P<0.05).Comparison of the scores of the two subscales of anxiety and depression in the HADS showed remarkable differences(P<0.05),and the downward trend was more obvious in the treatment group. The PSQI scores decreased in both groups compared with pre-treatment scores(P<0.05),and the improvement was more pronounced in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Dragon-tiger contending needling at Xi-cleft points plus electroacupuncture has good efficacy in the comorbidity of PHN.
